When I start my computer programs like MSN messenger automatically pop up. How can I stop it?

MSN messenger and AIM starts every time i turn on my computer. Then it takes about 5 minutes for me to close them and do what i went on the computer to do. At times its very annoying; can someone help me?

When I start my computer programs like MSN messenger automatically pop up. How can I stop it?
On MSN Messenger, go to Tools, Options, and on the General tab you'll find a setting: "Allow automatic sign in when connected to the internet." Just make sure that is deselected. I am not too familiar with the latest version of AIM but every piece of [decently coded] software has an options/preferences/settings section selectable from one of the drop down menus, usually File, Edit, Tools, or Options. Just look around the menus for access to customizing the software settings and you should find an option to "uncheckable" a box that will say "start automatically at sign on", or something to that effect. The key here is to learn to use the software.
Reply:go to the main window of msn

go to tools

then go down to options

then on the left side go to general and then you get all thses

things that say like stuff

and then click on the one that says automaicall sign in and if it has a check next to it click on it so that htere is no check

GOOD LUCK
Reply:On msn messenger left click the tools tab then left click the options tab, left click the General tab on the left and uncheck the box "Automatically run Messenger when I log into Windows." Click OK at the bottom.
Reply:because it is programmed to do so. Go into messenger's settings or preferences and uncheck "run at startup"
Reply:It's a configuration selection in the messenger programs. In MSN messenger, go to Tools - Options - General and deselect the check box for "Automatically run messenger when I log into Windows."
Reply:I agree with David's answer.
Reply:all of the above is pretty much good advice but if you are novice user stay the hell out of msconfig so you dont mess any thing up and when you install any program read carefully through the set up part go into custom or advance becuase it will give you the option of having it start up with your computer or not then you dont have to worry about it later.
Reply:Try unistalling MSN Messenger, or if you still are interested in keeping the program, you can go into the settings ( within the program, usually listed along the top bar of menu items) and select to not open the program upon start.
Reply:no don't do that that will mess up your start up open msn and find options there will be a option you can click to start at start up. Click it off
Reply:Start %26gt; Run %26gt; type in "msconfig" %26gt; click on the startup tab and untick what you don't want to start, then apply and press OK.
